Another weather watch is in effect for the Charles City area.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch in effect from this afternoon (Monday) through Tuesday afternoon as more heavy snow enters the area.

Light freezing drizzle should end this afternoon, turning to heavy snow. A total accumulation of 5 to 10 inches is possible along with a light glazing of ice.

“The bulk of the accumulations will come overnight Monday through noon Tuesday,” NWS said. “The precipitation could begin as a short period of freezing drizzle, wintry mix late Monday afternoon into early evening.

“The impacts to travel could be significant with roads going from slippery to hazardous to even treacherous in a short amount of time,” NWS said. “Plan now. Be prepared to delay, adjust or cancel travel.”

Winds could gust as high as 35 mph later tonight into Tuesday.

“Visibilities are likely to be reduced substantially due to blowing snow by Tuesday,” NWS said. “Drifting snow may also be substantial.”
