There was a fake murder in Charles City Saturday night — and a real mystery.

Wedding guests packed the Floyd County Youth Enrichment Center to enjoy and participate in this year’s Charles City Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner and Auction, which was a murder mystery dinner, entitled “Til Death Do Us Part.”

The event is an annual fundraiser for the Chamber of Commerce, and guests this year were encouraged to attend in wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, tuxedos and any other especially ridiculous wedding attire they could find.

A troupe of actors from The Murder Mystery Theatre Co. in Minneapolis put on the show for the third straight year. Two years ago it was a masquerade ball theme, and last year was a 1980s theme.

The troupe included guests to be characters as a part of the interactive show. A murder was staged, and the guests were among the suspects.

The meal was catered by Dave’s Restaurant, and a silent action was held as well.
