New golf fees at Wildwood this summer

The Charles City Parks and Recreation Board adjusted fees at the Wildwood Golf Course for 2018 at its Wednesday meeting.

The weekday AM Special for green fees and a cart is set to be changed from $10 per person for nine holes to $15, and an 18-hole game will go from $20 to $25.

The fee is Monday through Friday with holidays excluded.

Annual punch cards will no longer be used because they had been used in lieu of season tickets, said Charles City Parks and Recreation Director Steven Lindaman.

“We’d like to encourage membership,” said Parks and Recreation Board Chairperson Dennis Petersen. “The number of punch cards has declined dramatically.”

“We had six people that bought them last year,” Lindaman said. “It’s just eliminating one other thing people are trying to keep track of.”

The reason for the change is to be more in line with what other courses are doing, Petersen said.

Season membership prices will be $330 for a single, $395 for a couple and $430 for a family, all plus sales tax.

The board also discussed increasing shed fees and establishing late fees for season ticket and cart shed payments.

“People will want to buy a year membership and then not pay for it or pay part of it, and come out and play golf,” Petersen said. “Sometimes it’s October and they haven’t paid their fee yet.”

The late fee will be an additional $25 for people who are late to pay for their season tickets and cart shed payments.

“Apparently this is an ongoing problem,” Petersen said.

People seeking season tickets will sign a form agreeing to pay for their tickets by the first day they play golf or no later than May 15, Petersen said.

Seasonal cart rental will be raised from $250 for 9 holes to $300 and from $350 to $400 for 18 holes.

The shed fees will go up from $215 to $250 for a shed for electric carts and from $190 to $225 for sheds for gas carts.
