Kristin Chenoweth, Rodgers & Hammerstein to show in Mason City

Staff report

The 2016-17 Performing Arts and Leadership series was announced today by North Iowa Area Community College.

“Experience the magic of live entertainment right here in Mason City. With two magical nights of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella to an unforgettable intimate evening of song with the Tony-award winning Kristin Chenoweth, this season is not to be missed!” said Elizabeth Gales, Director of NIACC Performing Arts and Leadership Series. “I am thrilled to bring one of my favorite singers, Darlene Love, back to celebrate the holidays at NIACC this year. With legendary soloists, side-splitting comedy and Broadway shows there is something for everyone at the NIACC Performing Arts and Leadership Series. 5,000 school children will participate in our Literature to Life program through North Iowa Schools and see Peter Rabbit, Rock the Presidents and Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters come to life.”

Appearances also include a speaking arrangement from Christina Baker Kline, author of Orphan Train; “Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience”; “Stomp”; “Elvis Lives”; and pianist and composer Julian Lawrence Gargiulo, among many other performances.

The College annually engages individuals in awe-inspiring discoveries and unforgettable experiences with an impressive slate of performances, speakers, and visual arts from around the globe.
