CHARLES CITY — When does a trick stop being a trick?

When just about everyone can do it.

Nonetheless, a “Hat Trick” in darts — placing all three darts within the inner or outer portion of the bull’s eye on one turn — is a deft feat if not a trick.

And during the Charles City Dart League end-of-season awards banquet Saturday at DeRailed, just about all those in attendance received “Hat Trick” pins for achieving the feat at least one time during the past season.

The few who didn’t were subject to ridicule.

No one was ridiculing Matt Easterly. He was the no-brainer Overall Award Winner (best player) after placing first in league play in 501 and Cricket.

Easterly was also part of the league’s top team that included Gil Graeser, Robin Schmidt and LeRoy White.

Other award-plaque winners included Nick Sears and Eddie Lewis, who placed second and third, respectively, in 501; Dan Aurea, who placed second in Cricket; and White and Bryant Estland, who tied for third in Cricket.

Deena Graeser was the recipient of the league’s Appreciation Award.
