UPDATE: Name released in Monday morning traffic death

A young Postville man was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Monday on the Avenue of the Saints in Floyd County, the Iowa State Patrol reported.

In an updated report released Tuesday, the patrol said that Tanner Patrick Walker, 21, of Postville, was killed in the 4:30 a.m. accident Monday when his vehicle, a 1996 Ford Explorer, drifted off the road and rolled into the median.

The accident occurred on Highway 18 near the Waterbury Road intersection, about 1¼ miles south of Floyd. Walker was driving north on the avenue when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, the report said. He was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled.

The accident is under investigation by the state patrol. Assisting at the scene were the Floyd Fire Department and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
