Immaculate Conception School wins $1,000 in online voting contest

Immaculate Conception Catholic School recently won $1,000 in the UnityPoint Health “Imagine the Amazing” $25,000 back-to-school online voting contest.

More than 2,600 K-12 nonprofit schools in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin were eligible to participate, and more than 1.6 million votes were cast during the contest Sept. 17-30.

IC placed seventh with 41,199 votes and took home a runner-up prize of $1,000 along with nine other schools that cracked the top 10.

Annawan Grade School in Annawan, Illinois, won the contest with just over 196,000 votes.

Other schools that received the runner-up prize of $1,000 were Don Bosco High School (Gilbertville, IA), Louisa-Muscatine High School (Letts, IA), Jordan Catholic (Rock Island, IL), South Tama High School (Tama, IA), Seton Catholic (Moline, IL), Nuestro Mundo, Monona, WI), Highland Elementary (Riverside, IA), Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Elementary (Hartley, IA), and Mt. Olive Lutheran (Des Moines, IA).

The $25,000 won by Annawan Grade School will go toward enhancing the well-being of students, teachers and/or learning environments according to UnityPoint Health’s website. Ten runner-up schools can invest in a health and wellness need with the money they won.

Results of the contest were announced on October 9.
