Visitation will be from 5 -7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Darwin Wagner Memorial Fund.

Darwin Meryle Wagner was born February 14, 1931, at the Wagner family farm near Rudd to John (Jack) and Alvina Wagner, the youngest of three children. The family moved to Marble Rock where he attended country school and Rockford High School.

Darwin enjoyed roller skating for 40 years in Charles City, Mason City, Clear Lake, Iowa Falls, Dubuque, and Dodge Center, MN.

He bowled for 62 years in The Buffalo League at Stardust Lanes in Nora Springs, Lee’s Lanes, Mystic Lanes in Mason City and the Comet Bowl in Charles City. He enjoyed going on fishing trips to Canada and Minnesota and vacationing in Canada, California and Florida. He also enjoyed playing pool, cards, dancing, watching the Minnesota Vikings and had many friends.

Darwin farmed in the Marble Rock area for several years. He also ran a corn sheller for the Tyden Feed Store in Dougherty, and then started his own corn shelling business, shelling corn until he was 79 years old. Darwin also worked for Chuck Wolters, farming and driving truck for many years.

Darwin is survived by a brother-in-law, Arnold Litterer of Marble Rock; nieces and nephews, Larry (Becky) Litterer of Dougherty, Evelyn (Tom) McAdam of Sale, Australia, Russell (Mary) Litterer of Rockford, Janette Jess of Edmonds, WA, Denise (Bill) Dow of Rockford, Jerry (Jenny) Litterer of Bellevue, Gary (Martha) Christians of Lehigh, Kim Christians of Rochester, MN, and Michael Christians. He is also survived by a special great niece and nephew, Anne (Lee) Jacobs of Rudd and Matt (Pam) Litterer of Nora Springs; very special great-great nieces, Josie and Dana Jacobs of Rudd; several other great and great-great nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Chuck and Robin Wolters of Rockford and Gary and Janette Schmitt of Rockford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Muriel Christians and Yvonne Litterer; a brother-in-law, Wynton Christians; nephew, Paul Christians and a great nephew Thomas Christians. Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs. 641-749-2210. ColonialChapels.com.

Darwin Meryle Wagner, 84 of Nora Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m.

Monday, Dec. 21 at Rockford United Methodist Church, 21 3rd St. NW, Rockford, with Rev. Judy Wooton officiating. Following a luncheon at the church, burial will be in Sunnyside
