Randy L. Peters

Randy L. Peters, 56, of Ankeny, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016 at Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines. A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, from 3-5 p.m. at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First St., Ankeny, IA 50023). Following the visitation a gathering will be held at the Otter Creek golf course clubhouse in Ankeny.

Randy was born July 19, 1960 in Charles City to Louis and Charyl (Hillier) Peters. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1978. Randy then attended Wartburg College and Iowa State University, where he obtained his Master’s Degree in immunology, preventative medicines and microbiology. Randy was united in marriage to Cindy Lynch on Nov. 20, 1982 in Charles City; they were blessed with two children, BreeAnn and Brandon. Randy worked as a director of global fermentation at Kemin Industries in Des Moines.

In his free time, Randy enjoyed golfing, playing billiards and cheering on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family.

Randy is survived by his wife, Cindy Peters; children: BreeAnn Peters of Houston, Texas and Brandon Peters (Jenny Stinich) of Albuquerque, N.M.; parents Louis and Charyl Peters of Charles City; two brothers: Rick (Molly) Peters of Charles City and Rusty Peters (Mindy) of Nora Springs; sister, Reesa (Mark) Mitchell of Arpin, Wis.; mother and father-in-law, Craig and Gerry Lynch of Charles City, brothers-in-law, Brian (Donna) Lynch, Rick (Tracey) Lynch and Brad Lynch; sisters-in-law, Robin (Kent) Risbeck, Christine (Brent) Schlader and Alison (Dave) Reams; he is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Randy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bruno and Alice Peters and Jim and Alma Hillier.

Memorial donations may be made to Kavanagh Hospice House or Mercy Hospital Downtown 8 South.
