Gunilla Vikman

Gunilla Vikman, 75, of Charles City, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A private family service celebrating Gunilla’s life will be held at a later date.

Astä Gunilla Vikman was born on May 20, 1941 to Axel Rudolf and Margit (Öberg) Vikman, in Eskilstuna, Sweden. She completed both grade school and high school in Sweden. Gunilla worked as a nanny in Munich, Germany, in a bakery, and as a student teacher in Sweden, a photographer for IMCA and as a photo technician in St. Louis, Mo. She also completed some college art courses at Upper Iowa University, in Fayette, Iowa.

Gunilla was an artist, photographer, and active member in her church. She learned something from each of the places she has called home in her life: Sweden, Germany, New Hampshire, Wisconsin and several towns in Iowa: Vinton, Iowa Falls, and Charles City.

Gunilla is survived by her daughter, Karin Worth; son, Karl (Jenna) Haglund; and grandchildren: Micah Worth, Annika Worth, Anders Haglund and Kati Haglund.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Ingrid Vikman.
