George William Mangano

George William Mangano, 73, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

George was born Feb. 22, 1943 in Williamsville, N.Y. to Paul and Rosetta (Baldwin) Mangano. He was raised in Charles City, Iowa and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School there. George graduated from Des Moines Area Community College and worked as a machinist at Hydrotile in Nashua. He moved to Redfield in 1998 to be closer to his sons.

George enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and drinking beer. Spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was his greatest joy.

George is survived by his children: Bill Mangano and Bob (Deana) Mangano, both of Redfield, and Tonya (Kevin) Hicks of Ionia; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, John Mangano of Cedar Rapids and Rosie (Bill) Busi of Denver, Colo.; and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
