Mabel H. Kreger, 84, of Charles City, IA died Monday, April 17, 2017 at 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Homes.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt Street.  A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 S. Main Street, with Reverend Bill Odermann officiating.  Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Mabel was born on April 19, 1932 in Ripon, Wisconsin to Herbert and Joyce (Bird) Wichman.  She resided and attended schools through the 10th grade in Wisconsin.  Mabel was married to Elmer Kreger on October 26, 1957 and the couple then settled in Charles City; where she lived the remainder of her lifetime.  To their union, to boys were born, James and Randall.

Mabel was a homemaker for most of her life.  She became extremely active in St. John’s Church.  Mabel served on the Lydia Church Circle and was a wedding reception consultant at the church.  She also taught Sunday School for 15 years and Bible School for 10 years.  In her free time she enjoyed: knitting, crocheting, gardening and reading.  Mabel liked taking camping trips with her family and visiting with relatives in Wisconsin.

She is survived by her two sons, James Kreger and Randall Kreger of Charles City; sister, Marian Kreger of Floyd, IA and three sisters-in-law: Rose Wichman, Carol Wichman and Eileen Ender.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Joyce Wichman and three brothers: William Wichman, Lester Wichman and DuWayne Wichman.
