Randal ‘Randy’ Schilling

180111_J_Schilling, Randal-obitRandal “Randy” Schilling, 63, of Charles City, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Leeper of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be an hour before the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Randal Scott Schilling, the son of Victor and Lou (Meiner) Schilling, was born December 6, 1954 in Charles City. He attended school in Charles City and graduated from Charles City High School. Randy was married to Deborah (Overlee) Schilling on August 25, 1973.  This union had had four children: Katie, Krista, Kara, and Lee. The couple later divorced.

Randy was a self-employed contractor for many years. He also worked for Superior Lumber and owned Trail Stop Restaurant in Charles City. Randy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He loved to fish, drink Busch Light and build things with his hands. Randy loved his grandchildren and would do anything for his family and friends.

Living family members include daughters: Katie (Michael) Hammond, Krista (Fred) Littleton and Kara Schilling; son, Lee (girlfriend Whitney Wilson) Schilling; son-in-law, Dan Brannon; friend/brother Dean Hennick; brothers: Greg (Carla), Jerry (Mickie), Steve (Gloria), Tom, Dan and Ron; sisters: Connie (Rick) Palmersham and Lori (Sheku Syl Kamara) Davies; significant other, Loretta Deetz of seven years and her children: Shane (Darcy) Deetz, Abigail (Justin) Murphy and Zac (girlfriend Sara) Deetz; grandchildren: Benjamin, Lela, Callie, Kaden, Cameron, Makinzey, Blaine, Kinnick and baby Wyatt on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, David; sister, Janet; and brother, Jeff.

A celebration of life will follow the service at Derailed in Charles City.
