Esther Meyne

Esther Meyne, 94, a resident of Riverside Senior Living in Charles City, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Floyd County Medical Center.

A private family memorial service for Esther Meyne will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Norman Bauer from Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.  Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

A gathering of family and friends will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2018.

Esther Marie Meyne was born on November 26, 1923 at Rockford, the daughter of Klaus and Mary (Rath) Zimmerman. On June 6, 1943, Esther was married to Melvin K. Meyne at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City.

Esther was an active member of the Saint John Evangelical Church and a lifetime resident of Charles City. She always loved visiting with family and friends and enjoyed her time as a “pink lady” at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Heritage Club, a church circle, loved her flower gardens and playing 500.

Living family members include a daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Dan Vogel; a son and his wife, Wayne and Janet Meyne; and one sister, MaryAnn Steenhard. She has three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters: Louise, Emma, and Ella; and three brothers:  Herman, Benny, and Emil.

Memorials may be directed to Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in memory of Esther.
