Bonita ‘Bonnie’ A. Milhan

Bonita ”Bonnie” A. Milhan 82, formerly of Charles City died, Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, 2019 at the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt, Charles City. Officiating will be Rev. Russ Leeper of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Bonnie Milhan Memorial Fund. Inunrnment will be held at a later date in Sunnyside Memorial Garden, Charles City.

Bonita Ann was born on March 28, 1936 in Charles City the daughter of Earl and Dorothy “Newman” Jorgensen. She lived most of her life in Charles City except from 1963 to 1976 in Winona, MN. Bonnie was married to Robert Webster at Caledonia, MN on Aug. 6, 1956 until 1974. Then in 1986 she met Harold Milhan at the VFW and through intense courtship by Harold they fell in love and were united in marriage on Nov. 28, 1987 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She then became a member of the church.

Bonnie was a cook for several restaurants but her favorite was the Choo Chew. Her skill in the kitchen followed her though life and she made sure no one went hungry when they left her house. She loved to fish especially trout and Harold and she had a trailer on the Mississippi. One time she shot two pheasants with one shot, surprising her husband at work with her hunting skills. She also loved bowling and was on several different teams, one of which was the VFW where she was a long time auxiliary member. One of her favorite volunteer jobs was with the Foster Grand Parent program where she worked with the Kindergarten kids. She loved playing cards and her favorite was cribbage. Above all else she loved her family and her dogs.

Surviving Bonnie are three children Theresa (Kalvin) Scholte, Ackley, IA; Lori (David) Roths, Humboldt, IA; John (Sue) Welter, East Dubuque, IL; step-children Gene (Judy) Milhan, Columbia, SC; Alan (Colleen) Milhan Oklahoma City, OK; Robert Webster, Minden, NV; Barbara (Barry) Brierley, Florence, CO; Jackie (Jim) Pieper, Clear Lake, IA, along with 22 grandchildren, 52 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Granddaughters.

Preceding her in death are her parents, both husbands, one Sister Betty Kluwe, and two Brothers Richard “Dick” and Jerry Jorgensen.
