Rodney ‘Pete’ Thomas

Rodney “Pete” Thomas, 57, of Charles City passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2019 at his home after a five year battle with cancer.

A celebration of life will be held at the V.F.W. in Charles City Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 2-6 p.m.

Rodney “Pete” Blaine Thomas, the son of Robert and Karla (Michael) Thomas, was born on Sept. 7, 1961 in Charles City. He attended schools in Charles City. He was united in marriage to Michelle Milligan on August 24, 1985. To this union one son was born, Eric Daniel Thomas. The couple later divorced.

Pete worked as an auto-technician for various places in the Charles City and Mason City area. He had competed in bowling and pool tournaments. He loved working on his cars, putting together model cars, and target shooting with his son and friends. Most of all, Pete loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Living family members include his son, Eric (Amber Thilges); two grandchildren: Avery Rose and Kasey Lee; mother, Karla Thomas; two brothers: Courtney (Dawn) and Jefferey; sister, Bobbie (Tim) Petsche; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert on April 30, 2015; paternal grandparents, Cecil and Lavera (Vandeventer) Thomas; maternal grandparents, Wendell and Joan (Busch) Michael; two uncles: David Marth and Cecil Jr. Thomas; and aunt, Donna Brazzell.
