Local cagers named to Top of Iowa-East All-Conference teams

North Butler junior Dylan Clipperton and Rockford junior Zach Bushbaum were both named to the Top of Iowa East Division All-Conference first team boys basketball squad.

Clipperton led the Bearcats in scoring (15.0 ppg), assists (69), steals (36) and 3-point shot attempts and made while shooting 36.8 percent from beyond the arc.

Bushbaum led the Warriors in scoring (16.1 ppg) while shooting 45 percent from the floor, 43 percent from 3-point range and led the conference with a 87.9 free-throw percentage.

North Butler and Rockford also had players named All-Conference honorable mention.

Bearcat sophomore Rhett Lammers was second to Clipperton in scoring (9.8 ppg) and steals (33).

Warrior Alex Schriever led his team in assists (126) and steals (50).

Nashua-Plainfield junior Dayton Hanson was the Huskies’ lone All-Conference selection as he earned honorable mention honors after leading his team in scoring (12.4 ppg), assists (42) and steals (26).

Other first-team selections include West Fork senior Travis Fekkers and sophomore Zack Martinek; Saint Ansgar seniors Ben Boerjan and Cole Willert; and Osage senior Drew Olson, who was named TIC East Player of the Year.

Osage, which had a perfect 16-0 conference record, had three players on the second team with junior Nathan Bushbaum and Lucas Schwamman, and senior Ben Grimm; Newman Catholic had three second-team selections with sophomores Brady Gatton and Josh Ftizgerald, and senior senior Chris Andrews; and Northwood-Kensett had one second-team selection with senior Tom Fick.

Other honorable mention players include Osage senior Garrett Maakestad, West Fork senior Cole Hall, Newman Catholic senior Ben Fitzgerald, Saint Ansgar senior Ryan Peterson, Central Springs senior Dan Hennigar, and Northwood-Kensett junior Kole Parks.

Osage’s Mike Brahn was the TIC East Coach of the Year.
