CHARLES CITY — Sometimes there’s a fine line between junior varsity and varsity.

Quite often, for the Charles City Comet bowling program, sometimes that line can be north of 200 if the teammate you’re bowling against for the final varsity spot is on a roll.

During a junior varsity meet the Comets hosted against Cedar Falls Monday at Comet Bowl, Charles City sophomore Kale Ross was on a roll as he bowled a career-best two-game series of 437.

The Comet boys, who also got a fine 345 series from Garrett Gerholt, defeated the Tigers, 2,583-2,109.

In an auxiliary boys JV match, the Comets won, 1,984-1,868, with Jordan Wulff leading the way with a 332 two-game series.

In the girls JV meet, Charles City defeated Cedar Falls, 2,405-1,675, with Aryah Nelson (347 series) and Faith Fannon (334) leading the way.

On Friday, Charles City will host Waverly-Shell Rock at Comet Bowl — it will be the Comets’ “Senior Night”.
