Ice Cream Social a big success

Thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make our 10th annual Senior Citizens’ Ice Cream Social such a success!

Whether you made and/or donated food, donated your time and/or money, whether you came to eat and support the cause, you made it all happen.

We made 50 pounds of maidrites, 50 pounds of potato salad, and nine gallons of pork and beans.

Special kudos to Charles City’s fine pie makers. Wow! We had 26 pies to choose from, some bars, and ice cream and 160 Norwegian rosettes!

A lot is happening at the Senior Center these days—cards, pool, jam sessions, along with many interesting programs and music for everyone. Congregate meals are also served Monday –Friday at noon. Please stop and get a schedule or check the CC Press for menus and activities. KCHA and Channel 4 are also so helpful to us. Again our thanks. It does take a village!

— Committee of Larry and Marian Smith, Noriene North, George and Vonda Cummins, Donna and Red Lyman, Bill Lincoln, Judy and Kip Hauser and wonderful senior citizen volunteers along with five gals from the Comet Café class.
