Olive Darby, 103, of Boone, formerly of Clarksville, entered the presence of her Lord on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at home.

A funeral service for Olive Darby will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Lynnwood Cemetery in Clarksville.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Olive Rebecca (Loucks) Darby, the daughter of William and Amelia (Keillor) Loucks, was born Sept. 26, 1912 in Anoka, Minn. She received her education in Anoka, Minnesota and Central High in Minneapolis, Minn. Olive continued her education at the Minnesota Business College and the McPhail School of Music.

Olive was united in marriage to Mervin Darby on Feb. 2, 1941 in Minneapolis. She was employed as a secretary at Butler Brothers in Minneapolis for a short time, but primarily raised their family and worked by her husband’s side on a farm near Clarksville.

Olive was a member of the Charles City Assembly, a representative for the American Cancer Society, and taught piano. She enjoyed music (especially piano), gardening and birds.

Living family members include her two sons: James (Judith) Darby of Shell Lake, Wis. and Steve (Anne) Darby of Boone; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mervin; son, Richard (at birth); five brothers; and three sisters.
