Marilyn Louise (Carey) Wulff
Marilyn Louise (Carey) Wulff, 75, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016, in Floyd County, Iowa.
A funeral service for Marilyn and her grandson Jadon will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City with pastors Wendy Johanneson from West Saint Charles United Methodist Church and Robert Holdorf from Waverly officiating. Burial will be at West Saint Charles Cemetery outside of Charles City.
Visitation for Marilyn and Jadon will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016at Hauser Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
Marilyn was born on August 16, 1941, to Amos Carey and Mildred (Carey) Crowell. She was born south of Charles City at her Grandma and Grandpa Hillier’s home and graduated from Charles City High School in 1958. While Marilyn was still in high school, she worked at the Charles City Courthouse through her high school’s co-op program until June 1958. After graduation, she worked at Bob Jenkins Truck Lines. In November 1958, Marilyn started working for Salsbury Laboratories and worked there until February 1962. She was an Avon representative for more than 40 years. In later years, she worked at the sale yard working with the receipts from sales.
Marilyn met Lee in January of 1960 and were married on July 30, 1960. They were the first couple to be married in the Wesleyan Church in Charles City. The couple treasured their time with friends by going out to dinner, playing cards and dominoes, and taking trips together. Marilyn had two children, Brenda (Michael) Ploeger and Brian (Gina) Wulff. She had four grandchildren, Joni Ploeger (Jeremy Lippert), Kati Ploeger, Jordan Wulff, and Jadon Wulff. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she loved them dearly. She enjoyed having tea parties, walking the Yellow Brick Road, and walking on the frozen creek with them. She enjoyed watching their sporting events and was proud of all their accomplishments. Marilyn loved bird watching, taking care of her yard and garden, cooking and baking, country music, and playing her piano. She was also a member of the West St. Charles United Methodist Church and was on numerous committees at the church volunteering her time and talents.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lee; children, Brenda (Mike) Ploeger and Brian (Gina) Wulff; grandchildren, Joni Ploeger (Jeremy Lippert), Kati Ploeger, and Jordan Wulff; siblings, Lewis Carey, Marlise (Gerald) Adams, and Charles (Darlene) Carey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Joyce Shover, and Viola Wulff; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos Carey and Mildred (Carey) Crowell; grandson, Jadon Wulff; brothers-in-law, Victor Nauman, Myron Wulff, and Ronald Wulff; sister-in-law, Patsy Wulff; nieces, Debra Nauman and Teri Wulff; and nephew, Jeremy Shover. Marilyn was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
