Mr. Kuhn goes to Washington
Press Staff Report
Floyd County supervisor and former Iowa legislator Mark Kuhn will be going to Washington, D.C., to testify before a United States Senate subcommittee this week.

Kuhn will be talking at 9 a.m. Thursday about concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO) emissions as part of his testimony before the Subcommittee on Superfund, Waste Management and Regulatory Oversight, which is part of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.
Kuhn, who represented the Charles City area in the Iowa House from 1999 to 2010, was one of the Iowa legislators responsible for creating the state Master Matrix which is used to determine if CAFOs of a certain size can receive a construction permit.
Many people — Kuhn among them — now say that the matrix does not do an adequate job of protecting the state’s environment, and advocate that it be changed.
