According to documents filed in Floyd County District Court, Dylan James Mennenga, age 28, is accused of entering an occupied structure in the 900 block of 9th Street in Charles City, on Sept. 7,  and stealing a set of golf clubs.

On that same day, Nora Springs Police Chief Jessie Dugan attempted to pull Mennenga over in Nora Springs, but Mennega allegedly sped away at speeds more than 25 mph over the posted limit.

On Sept. 8 a search warrant was executed on Mennenga’s vehicle, and the stolen golf clubs and associated items were allegedly found.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Sept. 11, and he was arrested on Oct. 25.

During the arrest, “defendant removed a glass vile from his person and tossed it onto an end table in the garage,” the court records state. The contents of the vial were tested at the Sheriff’s Office using a field test kit and rested positive for methamphetamine, the report says.

Mennenga was charged with burglary in the 2nd degree, a Class C felony; eluding while exceeding the speed limit by 25 mph or more, a Class D felony; possession of a controlled substance, third offense, methamphetamine, a Class D felony; and possession of burglary tools, an aggravated misdemeanor.

On the possession of burglary tools charge, Mennenga was charged with having “burglary tools in the form of a hammer, grinder, flash lights, portable police scanner, bolt cutters and a wire cutter.”

Mennenga was being held in the Floyd County Jail as of Thursday evening.
