Immaculate Conception has a full week of activities planned as the school readies to celebrate Catholic Schools Week.
“I think it’s a great way for us to show what Catholic schools are about,” said Principal Laurie Field.
The week of activities begins on Saturday, Jan. 25, with the IC Development Board hosting its annual fundraiser dinner.
Held at Wrightz Auction Co. from 5 to 11 p.m., the ’80s themed party will raise funds to support the school’s computer needs, field trip opportunities and supplemental classroom supplies.
After their parents party on Saturday night, students will lead the Mass on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m., where this year’s IC Wildcat Hall of Fame recipient will be announced.
The school week begins on Monday with students having their own ’80s themed dress-up day and special service activity.
“On Monday, for service, they’re going to make a decade for the rosary to pray on,” said Field. “We try to do a service project every year and this year we wanted to focus on vocations.”
Later on Monday, the PTO will hold its annual bingo event at 6 p.m.
Dress-up continues on Tuesday, with students encouraged to dress for the future, envisioning what their future selves will be. Students will also have a “Write & Feed” activity where they will enjoy snacks and write about why they love IC.
On Wednesday, kids will dress up in blue to show that “kindness is cool.” The day will feature a mini-course where students will go from room to room for dance parties, story readings, Play-Doh crafts and more.
“Teachers will have different activities planned for them,” said Field.
Thursday will be the day of faith as kids dress up for Classroom Challenge day. Each student will be praying a decade rosary for a priest, sister, or seminarian.
The school week ends on Friday with Wildcat Spirit day. IC alumni are welcome to spend the day at the school for the IC Birthday Party. A family picnic will be held in the gymnasium at 11 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. students and teachers alike will go head-to-head in the annual basketball games.
Friday evening the PTO will host the annual father/daughter dance and on Saturday morning it will be Melodies with Mom where kids and their mothers can enjoy tea and desserts.
