The Charles City community came out in droves for the final Party in the Park of the summer on Friday, Aug. 4.

Dodging the weekend rain, Friday’s event marked the successful end of this summer’s line-up of Party in the Park events.

Floyd County Medical Center CEO Dawnett Willis welcomed Dr. Sara Terronez to the community during Party in the Park on Friday, August 4.

“It’s a very pleasant evening,” said Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce Director Mark Wicks, who was happy to see that each of this year’s Friday events avoided getting canceled. “For the most part, mother nature has been kind to us.”

With food, drinks, and entertainment there was plenty to enjoy. Model Stranger/Wild Love took the stage to provide music for the evening while the Class of 1973 gathered to celebrate its 50-year reunion.

As the presenting sponsor of that night’s event, Floyd County Medical Center was not only there to offer games and face painting for the kids, but also to introduce their newest doctor, Dr. Sara Terronez.

“We’re thrilled to have her in our community,” said Floyd County Medical Center CEO Dawnett Willis. “We love being out here to support Charles City and Floyd County.”

The event also served as the last chamber event under the direction of Events and Project Coordinator Joanna Thompson, who is moving on and passing her position over to new coordinator Eve Welton.

“We’re very appreciative of all she’s done,” said Wicks. “We hope people enjoyed her work.”
