Immaculate Conception Elementary students now have more space to show off their achievements.
After noticing the school’s trophy case was getting a little cramped, last year’s sixth grade TAG class decided to take it upon themselves to leave their school with a bigger model before moving on to the seventh grade.
Taking on the task from the ground up, TAG students Ben Girkin, Graham Hansen, Ellie Mason, Patrick McCarty, Nathaniel McInroy, Flynn Osier and Benjamin Tracey looked up prices and brainstormed fundraising ideas to achieve their goal of providing the school with a new case.
“It took a lot of hard work and time to get here,” said Mason, speaking at the grand reveal of the new trophy case.
Over the course of the year, the students sold shirts, organized fundraising events, applied for grants, and solicited donations and sponsors from local businesses and individuals to raise about $3,500 for the project.
On Monday, the students thanked everybody who contributed and unveiled the results of their work at a special reception during the back-to-school event on Monday, Aug 21.
