Students at Immaculate Conception Elementary School are getting to see some new faces in the building or familiar faces in new positions as the new school year gets started.
After serving as a student teacher in the school last spring, Mackenzie Parsons is starting her teaching career as IC’s new kindergarten teacher this year.
“We are happy she chose IC,” said Principal Laurie Field.
Other familiar faces in new positions this year include Lydia Johnson, a substitute teacher last year now serving full time as a fifth and sixth grade instructional aide.
“We are excited to have her at IC and sharing her talents with our students,” said Field.
Beth Hoppel, who also served as a substitute teacher last year, is now the school’s new religion teacher.
“This is a new position that we are excited to provide for our families and happy Beth chose to be with us,” said Field.
For other new faces, Melissa Ashley is coming into the school in another new position as the new preschool aide. Carrie Jones is the school’s new instructional support teacher, working with students and teachers on interventions and academic growth. And Melinda Masters, a veteran teacher from Charles City Community School, is coming on board as a long-term substitute for the fourth grade.
