The holiday season got off to a festive start this weekend at the Charles City Senior Center as members and visitors came in to enjoy its Fall Festival on Sunday, Nov. 5.
Serving up a lunch of ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, rolls, and homemade dessert, the Senior Center invited the community in to enjoy a traditional start for fall.
“We had a wonderful meal,” said Senior Center board member Judy Hauser.
Along with the meal, guests also had the opportunity to browse a selection of items for a silent auction fundraiser. Jewelry, holiday decorations, a large collection of ceramic clowns, and more were up for bid as people donated their wares to the cause.
“It’s fun to see what people bring in,” said Hauser.
Proceeds from the auction will go toward the maintenance and upkeep of the Senior Center.
Coming up next at the Senior Center, crafting instructors Becky Meyer and Char Greenzweig will be holding a card-making event on Wednesday, Nov. 15, bringing in kits to craft holiday cards for people to put together ahead of the holidays.
