Get Messy got a little cleaner on Tuesday, Nov. 28, as kids at the Charles City Public Library made their own soap jellies.

Combining unflavored gelatin with water, salt, and a glob of hand soap, kids poured their mixtures into molds and chilled them until they formed a semi-solid scented jelly.

The jiggling jellies can be used as short-lived hand soap or a quickly dissolving bath time toy.

There won’t be a Get Messy next week. On Tuesday, Dec. 5, the library will be hosting a Holiday Open House and Festival of Trees from 2 to 6 p.m.
