Charles City Library hosts holiday open house

There were seasonal snacks, games, crafts and more at the Charles City Public Library as it ho-ho-hosted a holiday open house on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
The second year for the event, Santa Claus himself even dropped in for a visit as kids searched for gingerbread men on a scavenger hunt, colored paper houses for a Christmas village, and decorated a special sweater for Children’s Librarian Stacey Leerhoff to wear for next week’s Get Messy program.
One of the new highlights of the open house this year was the display of decorated Christmas trees for the Festival of Trees.
Put on by the Friends of the Library organization, six trees decorated by the Charles City Arts Center, Comprehensive Systems, Floyd County Conservation, Floyd County Museum, TLC: The Learning Center, and Trinity United Methodist Church Senior High School Youth Group can be enjoyed this year and voted on to determine the holiday fan favorite.
Voting is taking place on the “CCPL – Friends of the Library” Facebook page by finding the Festival of Trees album post on Dec. 4 and “liking” the photo of the selected tree.
