Kids got crafty with some kitchen science at this week’s Get Messy activity on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Mixing together salt, flour and water, the kids were shown how to mold basic household ingredients into a simple and safe salt dough clay.

“It makes up kind of like Play-Doh,” said children’s librarian Stacey Leerhoff.

Shaping the dough clay into x’s and o’s, the kids will leave their shapes at the library to dry and harden, using them next week as Tic-Tac-Toe pieces for the next Get Messy activity.

Along with playing games with their handmade pieces, the kids will also get to make even more dough next week, this time to make homemade doughnuts.
