Horror movie fans in Charles City will soon have a new store to haunt as Nightmare Authentics gets ready for its grand opening.
Movie buff and autograph consigner John Miller has spent the week moving his collection of horror movie props and collectibles into his new Main Street storefront.
For many years now, Miller has been traveling to conventions for himself and on behalf of others, picking up rare props and getting autographed items from the stars of popular horror franchises like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. Now he’s expanding his passion for scary movies into a fully fledged retail store.
“I was running out of room in my house,” said Miller. “It just kind of took off from there.”
From personalized autographs to rare merchandise, Miller wants Nightmare Authentics to be a repository for unique items in the horror world that appeal to the hardcore horror fan.
“There’s nothing like it anywhere around here,” said Miller.
For the more casual film fan, Miller will have a selection of horror themed T-shirts, masks, cards, games, Funko Pops, and more.
“We’re trying to create a good mix of funny shirts and different things,” said Miller. “I’m hoping the people will tell me what they want to see.”
Miller is working to get his store ready to open for the Halloween season, with plans to have a ribbon-cutting near the end of September.
