Floyd County area legislators sworn in for the 91st General Assembly

On Monday, Jan. 13th, Rep. Charley Thomson (R-Charles City) and Rep. Jane Bloomingdale (R-Northwood) were sworn into the Iowa House of Representatives on the first day of the 91st General Assembly.

The swearing-in ceremony was followed by opening remarks by Speaker of the House Pat Grassley, outlining some of the priorities of the Legislature for the 2025 session.

This is Thomson’s second term in the Iowa House of Representatives. He is the current chair of the Government Oversight Committee. He also serves on the Commerce, Public Safety and Judiciary committees, as well as the Administration and Regulation Budget Subcommittee.

Thomson represents District 58 in the Iowa House, which includes all of Floyd County except for the Rockford and Rock Grove townships, all of Chickasaw County, and all of Bremer County except the Polk, Lafayette, Washington, Jackson and Jefferson townships.

This is Bloomingdale’s fifth term in the Iowa House of Representatives. She serves as the chair of the State Government Committee. She also serves on the Local Government and Ways and Means committees as well as the Legislative Council.

Bloomingdale represents Iowa House District 60, which includes the Rock Grove and Rockford township in northwest Floyd County, all of Mitchell County, all of Worth County and the western Cerro Gordo County townships of Grant, Lincoln, Clear Lake, Lake, Union and Grimes.
