Hy-Vee Inc. has announced that it is expanding its Market Grille offerings to offer a wider variety of choices with a new menu that primarily focuses on breakfast and burgers.

Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 4, all Hy-Vee restaurants including in Charles City will offer a new breakfast menu. A new lunch and dinner menu will roll out throughout February.

“We’re excited about it and we’re looking forward to inviting our customers in for a great breakfast,” said Jeremy Low, district store director for the Charles City Hy-Vee.

Tina Potthoff, senior vice president of communications for Hy-Vee, told the Press that the biggest changes will affect the 79 “Wahlburgers at Hy-Vee” locations that will change back to Market Grilles.

“This news does not impact our hot case offerings,” such as those in Charles City, Potthoff said, although the new menu will “offer a wider variety of choices for families, individuals and breakfast groups.

Also, she said, referring to Chinese food in the hot case, “Hy-Chi is here to stay and not going anywhere.”

The menus will bring back items like Market Grille burgers, BLT and club sandwiches, and pork tenderloin sandwiches, while still offering items like wings and wontons, a press release said.

Traditional breakfast items will include omelets, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, French toast and a breakfast burrito. Hash browns are also returning to the new breakfast menu.

Weekday hours for all Market Grille locations will be 6 to 11 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for lunch and dinner. Breakfast will be available 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the weekends with a special brunch buffet offered at select locations. All Market Grille locations will offer both dine-in and carry-out service, as well as third-party delivery.

Most locations will have counter service where customers order at the counter and staff will bring their order to their table.

Transition will happen across Hy-Vee’s region in phases starting this week.
