School board meets with FFA; approves 25/26 calendar

The Charles City Community School Board got a demonstration of meeting etiquette from the FFA Parliamentary Procedure team during its regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 10.

FFA members Madison Crooks, Kylie Blunt, Mayzie Bruening, Tyler Heitz, and Xavier Scott showed the board how their meetings are handled with a scripted demonstration of them deciding on mattersincluding creating a promotional video, growing greens in the school cafeteria and how they will celebrate FFA Week, which is coming up next week.

On the subject of calendars, the School Board approved the calendar for the 2025-26 school year.

The first day of school for the new year will begin on Monday, Aug. 25, with the first semester ending for winter break on Friday, Dec. 19.

Classes will resume in 2026 on Monday, Jan. 5, with the end of the third quarter scheduled for Thursday, March 5, leading into Spring Break.

The fourth quarter of the year will begin Monday, March 16, with graduation scheduled for Sunday, May 17, and the tentative last day of school on Wednesday, May 27.
