A beam signing is a common tradition within the construction industry, according to information from the Medical Center.

Typically, one or two steel beams are set aside for staff, community members and other important individuals to sign before being placed into the structure of a new facility.

“This construction project would not be possible without the enthusiastic support of our community, which is why we are opening the beam-signing to everyone,” said Dawnett Willis, FCMC chief executive officer.

“We would love to see as many people as possible join us for the beam-signing ceremony. Bring your friends and coworkers and stop by to sign your name!” Willis said.

Construction teams plan to install the signed beam into one of the new stairwells, making everyone’s signatures visible for generations to come.

The project, which includes a new three-story clinic to replace the clinic facility currently located south and separate from the hospital, is currently on schedule to open in the spring of 2026, the Medical Center said.

The beam-signing event will take place on the patio by the temporary main entrance. In the event of inclement weather the festivities will move inside the hospital.

Attendees can park in the new parking lot across from the temporary main entrance.
