Charles City Animal Clinic to close as longtime veterinarian retires

After decades of service to pets and their owners in Floyd and Butler counties, Dr. John Moellers, DVM, has announced his retirement and the upcoming closure of the Charles City Animal Clinic.

The clinic, at 2208 Shadow Ave. in Charles City, will officially close its doors on Friday, April 18, marking the end of a 25-year run in Charles City. Moellers has also practiced for 37 years at the Greene Veterinary Clinic.

In a statement to clients, the clinic expressed gratitude to the community and said that, despite efforts, no replacement veterinarian could be found. As a result, both the Charles City and Greene locations will close when Dr. Moellers retires.

“This decision was not made lightly,” the statement said. “We understand this news may be disheartening, and we want to assure you that we will support you through this transition.”

Clients are encouraged to pick up their pets’ medical records before Friday, April 25. Records may be requested by calling the clinic at 641-228-4615 before stopping in.

Dr. Moellers and business manager, Carol Moellers, thanked the community for its support over the years and said it has been an honor to serve Charles City and Greene area families.
