Yarn Art was the craft of the day as kids escaped the rain for an afternoon painting session during the Charles City Public Library’s Get Messy program on Tuesday, April 2.

By tightening a piece of yarn across the canvas, kids were able to paint straight lines of colors with dabs on cotton balls and fill in the rest with markers.

“I saw a bunch of different ways to do it and I liked this one,” said Children’s Librarian Stacey Leerhoff.

Next week’s program will be extra special as the library will celebrate National Library Week with ice cream and a LEGO building session starting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8.

The following week, the library will host an Easter Egg hunt on Tuesday, April 25.
