The week of art appreciation continued as the Charles City School District presented the Washington Elementary Fine Arts Night program on Tuesday, April 2.

The second of a two-part series, the Tuesday show featured the artwork and musical talents of Washington Elementary’s kindergarten and first grade classes.

“We’re super excited that you’re here to see all the student’s hard work,” said music director Katelyn Kluver. “We’ve spent a lot of time practicing keeping a steady beat.”

The kindergarten class members kicked off the show by demonstrating how they use stuffed animal “beat buddies” to stay on tempo while singing.

Following that, the first graders introduced some choreography to their performances, using colorful sticks and arm movements to enhance their songs.

After the concert, families roamed the middle school hallways to see the paintings and drawings the students have been working on over the school year.
