CCHS Fashion Club makes it’s debut
Getting through approval, applications and Day One
This year Charles City High School now has a high school fashion club, sponsored by a college over in California known as the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM).
When I was in seventh grade I had been scrolling the internet and came across fashionclub. com which is where I discovered a program to sponsor high school fashion clubs. Ever since then I had wanted to start a fashion club once I got in high school.
Finally my freshman year rolled around and I decided to look into the FIDM fashion club program more. I talked to Mrs. Lundberg, the culinary arts and child development teacher at the CCHS, to see if she would be interested in being the advisor for the fashion club since she had taught sewing classes at the high school in previous years. Mrs. Lundberg accepted the offer and then we talked to Mr. Johnson, the CCHS principal and got it approved.
Once I got it all approved at the high school level I had to print off an official FIDM fashion club application form and business plan. The application is precise with questions. Most are about what you plan to do in the club, fundraising ideas and why it will better your school and community. In the application form I also have to have ten people signed up for the club to be official
