During her formative years, the Hannum family lived in Charles City, where she graduated high school in 1937. Dorothy married Linus Huber Dec. 31, 1938 and was a loving wife until his passing in 1985.
The couple raised four children: Roger, Stanley, Dotty and Carol.

After Don’s passing Dorothy lived out her remaining years in Clear Lake with the new love of her life, Shadow (her cat).
Dorothy was a wonderful cook with people raving over her potato salad, and she was also an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed her family time, beating them all at cribbage, showing her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law how to find morels and spending time on the water fishing.
