David H. Junker, age 76 of Nashua, IA, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua with Rev. John Tunnicliff and Rev. Richard Fredine officiating the service.

Interment will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua with Adam Martin, Joshua Schilling, Simon Gingerich, Joshua Roggeman, Jeff Springer and Jerry Adelmund serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ron Dann, Bill Kunzman, Denise “Dennis” Straw, Shawn Junker and Jonathan Schultz.

David Henry Junker was born Feb. 11, 1942, in rural Chickasaw County, IA, the son of Henry and Mattie (Schwennen) Junker. Dave received his education in Nashua graduating from the Nashua High School in 1960. He met Charlotte Springer while the two were in high school and the two began dating at a Sadie Hawkins dance. The couple were married Oct. 16, 1960, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua. To this union three daughters, Teresa, Debra, and Julie were born.
Dave began working for Hydrotile in Nashua two weeks before our high school graduation, and worked for the company for 28 years in the maintenance department until its closing. Dave was then employed by Featherlite and worked for the company in Nashua for 9 years. He owned and operated Dave’s Spray Painting and later the Powder Keg Sports Shop. He opened the shop in 1990, selling a variety of hunting gear, fishing equipment and firearms. Dave retired in 2016.
Dave was a true outdoorsmen and enjoyed many hobbies including playing softball in the Wonder Bread traveling league. He owned a racecar #409 and was the lead mechanic on the crew. He enjoyed horses and spent many hours trail riding and participating in competitions. He loved boating, fishing, camping and hunting and enjoyed hunting turkey, deer, pheasant, fox, and antelope. He also shot trap for many years.
Dave taught hunters education safety courses for 54 years. Dave was active in church and was a Deacon in the Bible Baptist and Trinity Baptist Church in Nashua, and most recently an active member of the United Methodist Church in Nashua.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Junker of Nashua, IA; three daughters, Teresa (Rodney) Martin of Ashton, IA, Debra (David) Schilling of Cedar Falls, IA, and Julie (Ronald) Gliha of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren, Adam (Vicki) Martin of Ocheyden, IA, Andrew Martin of Cherokee, IA, Joshua (Melissa) Schilling of North Liberty, IA, Megan (Simon) Gingerich of Cedar Falls, IA, Jonathan (Shannon) Schultz of Forest, VA, Jamie (Joshua) Roggeman of Urbandale, IA; great-grandchildren, Keira , Brayden and Kinley Martin, Elias, Malachi and Isaiah Gingerich, Zachary Roggeman, and Jack Schultz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Junker.
