Marlene Frances Hennick, 82, formerly of Charles City, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly, Iowa.
A funeral Mass for Marlene Hennick will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Gary Mayer celebrating the Mass. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd.
Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 with a Scripture Service beginning at 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Saturday.
Marlene Frances Anderson was born October 4, 1935, at Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Superintendent Harold George Anderson and Josephine Louise Seiler Anderson. With her parents both in education, she received her schooling at several Iowa public schools, including Rodman, Fontanelle, Stanhope, Newhall and Floyd, Iowa. Marlene graduated from high school in May 1953 from Floyd Consolidated School. She was also a graduate of Mankato Business College, Mankato, Minnesota, and extended education at NIACC and UNI.
On September 4, 1954 she was united in marriage to Eldon Robert Hennick at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, Iowa. Five children were born to this union. The marriage was later dissolved.
For 39 years she was employed by Charles City Community Schools where she was a confidential secretary in the elementary offices. From 1968-1980 she was located at Floyd Elementary School until it closed. She then transferred to Lincoln Elementary School in Charles City where she was employed from 1981-2007. She cared very much for the young children and their parents. She enjoyed each day with her fellow employees.
Marlene was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Sacred Heart Guild and St. Pat’s Circle. She was a member of the School Secretaries Group, a past member of Charles City United Way, and past secretary and coach for Floyd Little League. Marlene enjoyed the special times spent with her families, especially the grandchildren.
Living family members include her five children: David Hennick, Charles City, Iowa; Timothy (Machelle) Hennick, Manchester, Iowa; Dennis Hennick, Floyd, Iowa; Marcia (Rick) Frascht, Hastings, Minnesota; and Shelly (Ron) Krumwiede, Waverly, Iowa. One sister: Emily (Martin) Miller, Floyd, Iowa.13 grandchildren: Daniel Hennick, Robin Hennick, Cory Hennick, Troy Hennick, Kevin Hennick, Mick Hennick, Jamie Hennick, Heather Bertram, Holly Wirta, Tyler Frascht, Cody Krumwiede, Jade Krumwiede and Haylie Krumwiede. 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne Anderson; sister, Elayne Stewart; and mother-in-law, Golda Hennick.
