Linda Kilby

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Linda Irene Kilby, 79, of Charles City, Iowa. She went peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 10 at Floyd County Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

Linda was born on Feb. 27 in St. Paul Minnesota to Faye and Inez Dugan. Her and her sister “Lolly” were raised in Charles City, Iowa by her wonderful grandparents, Charles and Verna Dugan. She often spoke very fondly of growing up with many of her loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, many that she was still very close with.

Linda graduated Charles City high School, and married the love of her life, Duane Kilby on June 29, 1962. They had three children, Kimberly Carman (Eric); Robert Kilby; and Jamie Kilby (Trisha) all of Charles City. Linda worked at Fareway until she retired, where she made and cherished some lifelong friendships.

Linda loved spending time with her family more than anything. Trips to Wisconsin Dells and Branson with the entire family were some of her favorite memories. She enjoyed camping, playing cards, and simply having coffee while “visiting” with her friends as she liked to call it.

Linda is survived by her loving husband Duane and their children; granddaughter Katie Good (Bob) and great grandson Andrew of Hiawatha; grandson Jason Gemaehlich (Shana) and great grandson London of Mason City; and grandsons Karter Kilby and Gage Kilby of Charles City. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Boge and great grandaughter Parker Elizabeth Good.

Per Linda’s wishes, there will be a private family service at Riverside Cemetery where she will rest with her beloved grandparents, sister, and great granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, please send condolences along with some fun memories to Duane and the family at 209 16th Avenue, Charles City, Iowa.

Linda led an extraordinary life around people that adored her. She cared so deeply for the people around her. She was always doing small gestures and acts of kindness for others to brighten their day, and she would love for that to be carried on in her memory. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. We will all miss her greatly.
