Rodney ‘Rod’ Michael Dishman

Rodney “Rod” Michael Dishman, 70, of Charles City, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Daniel Larson officiating.

Rod was born on March 11, 1953, to Robert and Beverly Dishman in Belmond, Iowa. He married his wife Linda on Feb. 16, 1980, in South Dakota.

Rod is survived by his sister, Ranele Kolthoff of Alden, IA; and three sons: Steve Tusler (spouse Pam) of Washington, IA, Jeff Tusler (spouse Kelly) of Plainfield, IN, and Nathan Dishman (spouse Jennifer) of Ames, IA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Dishman; son, Chris Tusler; parents, Robert and Beverly Dishman; brother, Randy Dishman; sister, Ranae Berdahl, and mother and father-in-law, Leonard and Arlene Balsley.

Rod worked for Croell Redi-Mix (formerly Allied Redi-Mix) for over thirty years until his retirement in 2021. He assisted his wife Linda in running Backyard Water Gardens at their home in Charles City for the last 18 years. He had eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Rod loved watching NASCAR and even attended two races, one at the Kansas Speedway and one at the Iowa Speedway. After retiring, his primary hobby was rebuilding golf carts to look like late-model cars and trucks. Rod was hardworking and would do anything to help the people around him.  He was characterized as a kind-hearted human being with a mischievous laugh.
