Darlene O’Bena Dommel (Hurst)

July 11, 1940 to April 13,2024

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Darlene Dommel, who passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. Darlene was a devoted wife to her husband, James Dommel.  Married in  1961, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage most of which living in Golden Valley, Minnesota. They were blessed with three children, Diann (John)  Honadel, Christy (Jim) Keating, and David (Ana) Dommel. She was also a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Daughter of Roy and Elsie Hurst of Charles City Iowa. Darlene graduated from Charles City High School in 1958. She continued her studies at the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1963. Darlene dedicated her career to public health, working as a Public Health Nurse for the Minnesota Department of Health.

Outside of her professional life, Darlene had a passion for collecting and dealing in antiques. Darlene was the author of three books on antiques.
