Marian Hoeft

Marian Hoeft, 94, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City with Pastor Russ Leeper officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the start of the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to be given to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Marian Lea (Begemann) Hoeft, the daughter of Christoph and Erma (Stock) Begemann, was born on Aug. 29, 1930, in Charles City. Marian attended country school until 8th grade and graduated from Charles City High School in 1948. Marian was united in marriage to Wayne Hoeft at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Marian worked as a secretary to the principal at Charles City High school for many years. She was also a dedicated farmer’s wife and devoted mother. Marian was very active with St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and served in many roles including the women’s circle. She was also a 4-H Leader and a member of the Riverton Homemakers.

Marian loved to play board games and cards, especially 500. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, baking, sewing, and crocheting. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Marian is survived by her daughter, DeAnn (Steve) Hebert of Madrid; grandchildren: John (Jessica) Hebert, Ann (Clint) Gadbury, Thomas Hebert, and Matthew Hebert; son, Kent (Lorie) Hoeft of Charles City; grandchildren: Lee Hoeft and Lynn Hoeft; son, Kurt (Kathy) Hoeft of Charles City; grandchildren: Sarah Merrifield, Chris (Jessica) Hoeft, and Katie Hoeft; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Begemann; nephews: Craig (Julie) Begemann, Denny (Kim) Begemann, Jay (Cindy) Greenzweig; and other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Hoeft; and son, Wayne Hoeft, Junior.
