Dianne was one of six daughters born to Florence and Emory Field in Floyd County, Iowa on Jan. 26, 1936. She received her education in Charles City, graduating in 1954, and LaJames College in 1960. She later attended classes at the University of Northern Iowa to further her education. On Jan. 28, 1965, she was united in marriage with William Harrold. Dianne was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she served as past librarian, and was co-founder of Paws Animal Shelter. Her passion for animals, nature and photography prompted her to begin writing. Her book, “Tesse are you really a Cat?” and “Frederich’s Homecoming” along with other stories were published. Dianne and her beautiful Tesse were also featured in the first publication of “Morris Nine Lives”.
Dianne is survived by her son, Mark and his wife, Karen; grandchild, Daniel (XinRu); precious great-granddaughter, Chloe; William’s children, Bob, Barb, Becky, and Bruce. Bruce played an important role in Dianne’s life along with his children, Michael, Nick (Jesse) Amy (Jake) and the loves of her life, Jackson and Carter along with sweet Booby, her beautiful cat; sisters, Dixie Dunagan and Deb Gitch who brought much joy to her life and unfailing kindness; along with special nieces and nephews and close friends, Chuck and Judy Thorson and Joan Meyer.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tommy; husband, William; parents, Florence and Emory Field; sisters, Dolores Abel, Darlene “Dolly” Lyman, and Donna Stewart; step-son, Billy Harrold; step-daughter-in-law, Michelle Harrold; and brothers-in-law, Darwin Gitch, Jack Dunagan, and Larry Stewart.
When Dianne was a child she often said, “When I grow up I am going to live in a castle and go barefoot every day.” And….that she did.
