Marcia Elizabeth Jacobs

Marcia Elizabeth Jacobs, beloved daughter, wife, and mother, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at the age of 84. Marcia was born on Oct. 7, 1940, in LeRoy, Minnesota to Clifford William and Della Mae (Sumnicht) Russell. She attended Colwell School and remained active in the Colwell Alumni Association until her death.

Anyone who knew Marcia knew of her passion for reading, collecting antiques, and decorating. She enjoyed the public library and instilled a love of reading in her children. Over the years, she looked forward to going to small shops around the area with her friends, seeking out garage sales, and also visiting Comprehensive System’s Treasure Chest, finding objects that caught her eye to decorate her home, especially her front porch.

Marcia married Richard Jung and their living children include Shawna (Bill) Ost, Stephanie (Paul) Faulkes and Kip (Caroline) Jung. In 1986, Marcia married Roger Jacobs, and her family grew to include stepson David Jacobs and stepdaughter Lisa Jacobs.

A majority of Marcia’s work years were spent at Comprehensive Systems as a bookkeeper, where she enjoyed her work and developed close relationships with her coworkers. After her retirement, she continued to volunteer for Comprehensive Systems and also as a “Pink Lady” for Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Marcia was preceded in death by sons Steven and Joel Jung, daughter Stacey Jung, and half-sister, Lilian Russell.

A memorial service for Marcia will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Leeper from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. A luncheon at the church will follow the service.

A gathering of family and friends will take place one hour before the memorial service on Friday. Memorials in honor of Marcia may be made to Charles City Public Library or Comprehensive Systems.

Many thanks and praise to the caregivers at 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home for their care and concern, and to special relatives Joyce Jung, Janice Maulsby, and Kim Freiberg who gave an outpouring of support and love to the family during Marcia’s illness, and to Marcia herself over many, many years.
