Jeremy Ben Shuler was born July 2, 1976 in Charles City, IA the son of Raymond Charles Jr. and Mickey Marsha (Schotanus) Shuler.
Jeremy was a devoted husband to Gretchen (Schlader), whom he married June 11, 2010 and the loving father of Callen and Lilian. He was a dedicated son and brother, always texting his mother and never missing an “I love you”. He found joy in every moment spent with his family, whether it was camping in the great outdoors, sharing laughter at the dinner table, or getting beat by his kids at a game of Monopoly. He was known for his boundless energy, contagious laugh, quick wit, and playful sense of humor—often giving his wife a hard time, just to see her smile.
Jeremy loved learning, earning his Master’s Degree from University of Wisconsin-Platteville and earned a Graduate Certificate from MIT in 2017. As an engineer with John Deere, Jeremy was proud of the work he did, the patents he earned, and the many skills he mastered throughout his career. His Next Generation Primary Display project is planned to be the most widely adopted display within John Deere. His passion for learning new things was contagious, and he often encouraged those around him to keep growing and exploring. Whether it was tinkering with gadgets or taking on new projects, Jeremy loved the challenge of mastering new skills.
Jeremy was an expert at “name that tune” and could rock a karaoke machine, with his vocals and his moves. Jeremy shared his love of classic rock with his kids. He loved running, movies, , various podcasts and audiobooks. He would want us to recommend David Goggins to anyone reading this. After Josh recommended it, he would share it with anyone he could.
Family and friends were the heart of Jeremy’s life. He was a loyal friend, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh and a Blue Yummy (if you know, you know). He loved being involved with Callen’s Boy Scout activities, helping on the farm, and troubleshooting any obstacle that came his way. Often listening to Lily and her friends’ giggles while playing chauffeur to gymnastics or one of her many activities, and he was never afraid to display his dancing skills at her Daddy Daughter dances.
Jeremy’s legacy of laughter, love and adventure will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jeremy is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen (Schlader) Shuler; his children, Callen and Lilian Shuler; mother, Mickey Shuler; mother-in-law, Carol Hoffarth; father-in-law, Stephen Schlader; sister, Heather (Paul) Chambers; sister-in-law, Heidi (Kevin Bowery) Schlader; niece, Hannah (Zach Bergmann) Chambers; nephews, Levi (Bobbi) Kielsmeier and Isaac Chambers and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss him deeply.
